My name is Don Alewine, and I have been married to my wife, Kay, for thirty-two years. We have two adult children. Our son, Tyler, and our daughter-in-law, McKenzie, blessed us with our first grandchild, Hazel, this past August. Our daughter, Kristan, is a fourth-grade teacher with Greenville County Schools. One of my favorite things to do is to spend time with family. Additionally, I enjoy hiking, reading, and watching Clemson sports.
I love to experience life, and I feel traveling is one of the best ways to do that. If anyone ever mentions a trip that fits into my schedule and my budget, my bags are packed. I have created so many wonderful memories traveling, and I have enjoyed experiencing different lifestyles on my travels.
As an assistant principal, I was afforded numerous opportunities to chaperone student trips. One of the most memorable was a thirteen-day trip to Germany. One of the students had never been on a plane and arrived at the airport wearing a shirt with praying hands on it. I reassured him that everything would be fine, and I truly enjoyed watching his sense of awe at the things he experienced during the trip.
Traveling requires planning, and there are some things that I would not leave home without. These include versatile clothes, toiletries, my phone and charger, debit book, and a devotional book. Of course, if the trip is an international one, a passport is mandatory.
Because I recently retired and because of my love of travel and people, I decided that being a tour manager would be a perfect fit for me at this stage in my life. A friend of mine was already doing this and encouraged me to become one. I look forward to helping others experience the joys of traveling in order to create wonderful travel memories of their own.
