"A champion needs a motivation above and beyond winning" -- Pat Riley

In 1981, John Tribble, penciled in The Orange Bowl event on his calendar for the weekend of January 1 and 2, 1982.  That same year he started GOOD NEWS TRAVELS so that he could follow his passion and lead groups on unique tours in and around the United States.

John grew up loving Clemson athletics as he watched is mother, Anne Tribble, coach the Clemson women’s basketball team from the 1976-77 through the 1986-87 seasons. The Orange Bowl of 1982 was the perfect adventure for John to share his love for travel, sports and the Tigers. The 1982 Tiger Roadtrip was his 3rd trip--he filled 2 buses and headed South to cheer on his top-ranked Clemson Tigers in the National Championship. With a 21-15 win over Nebraska, Clemson won their first national championship and finished with their third perfect season in their 88-year history .

The 1981 National Championship was the start of great things to come for Clemson Football and began a 35+ year travel adventure for John Tribble and GOOD NEWS TRAVELS.
