For our final Fall Road Trip blog, we’re taking you to the state that Good News Travels calls home. While we may be biased when it comes to South Carolina, there’s no denying that it is a state full of beauty and history! With the Blue Ridge Mountains in the upstate, the gorgeous beaches in the low country, and all the unique towns in between, the state's tourism industry continues to grow each year.

If you're like many people, however, you may not be able to take an entire week or two out of your busy schedule to hit the road. Luckily for those who live not too far away, South Carolina is the perfect place to take a simple weekend getaway. Here’s five ways to spend a weekend in SC!

1. Myrtle Beach

As South Carolina's most popular tourist destination each year, this one is fairly obvious. Every summer, millions of people flock to Myrtle Beach for some fun in the sun! Beach-going isn’t just for summer vacation anymore, though! It’s a wonderful place to escape to even as the weather starts to get cooler. Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves, enjoy some retail therapy, or stroll the boardwalk. During the evening, go see one of the stunning shows that’s playing. Make the weekend as exciting or as peaceful as you like!

2. Greenville

Greenville has been listed by Forbes as one of America’s best downtowns. It’s one of the top up-and-coming travel destinations, and there’s no secret why. Greenville has a vibrant art and food scene as well as plenty of opportunities to get active! Take a bike ride along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, enjoying the pleasant autumn weather, or go see a world-class performance at the Peace Center. Greenville certainly has it all, and while it's not the largest city in the state, its small size means you can fit your itinerary into just one or two days!

3. Rock Hill

For a truly relaxed weekend in South Carolina, take a drive to Rock Hill, where southern hospitality really takes shape. The kids will enjoy a visit to the Main Street Children’s Museum, with its guided activities and live storytelling. Afterwards, take a stroll through one of the town’s many public parks, or visit the cultural center. A weekend getaway in Rock Hill will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed.

4. Charleston

As one of the oldest cities in America, Charleston is a popular weekend destination for many in the state as well as visitors from around the country. Shop for traditional crafts on Market Street, or go on a midnight ghost tour of the Provost Dungeon. You’ll never be at a loss for great food, warm hospitality, and unique entertainment during a weekend stay here!

5. Columbia

Many South Carolinians grow up taking field trips to the state’s capital to visit the State House in Columbia, but the fun doesn’t stop there! Columbia is home to numerous museums, the Riverbanks Zoo, and plenty of beautiful public spaces – great for a weekend of quality family time or a fun couple days out on the town with friends!

You could live in South Carolina your entire life and still not get a chance to see everything the state has to offer. It’s a diverse place, full of kind people and stunning scenery. It’s no wonder why the state slogan is “Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places.” What will you discover on your next weekend road trip here?
