Known as the 'Archaeological Heart of the Southwest, "Durango, Colorado, is home to a number of sites where travelers can explore ancient civilizations.  They can see cliff dwellings and many other well-preserved structures at Mesa Verde National Park and Chaco Canyon that provide a snapshot of the lives of the Pueblo people who lived in the area from roughly A.D. 600 to 1300.

Groups can dive into the days of the Old West by visiting the Stater Hotel or take in a sightseeing train ride with the Durango & Siverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.  The train winds through canyons in the remote wilderness of the San Juan National Forest as passengers learn about the miners, cowboys and settlers that rode the same rails over a century ago. @ntanow @gotravelsites @visitdurango
